Chow Yun-Fat and Territories of Hong Kong Stardom

Серия: "-"

As one of the most popular and versatile Hong Kong film stars, Chow Yun-fat has enjoyed international success over the last four decades. Using Chow's transnational and trans-regional star persona as a case study, Lin Feng investigates stardom as an agent for mediating the sociocultural construction of Hong Kong and Chinese identities. Through the analysis of Chow's on and off-screen star image, the book recognizes that a star's image is unstable and fragmented across distinct historical junctures, geographic borders and media platforms. Following Chow's career move from Hong Kong to Hollywood, and then to transnational Chinese cinema, Chow Yun-fat and Territories of Hong Kong Stardom highlights the complex redefinitions of local and global, traditional and modern, and East and West, that Chow's image has undergone, exploring the nature of Chinese and transnational stardom, the East Asian film industry, and Asian male stardom beyond martial arts and action cinema.

Feng Lin

Feng Lin (Chinese: 风林; Pinyin: Fēng Lín) is a character featured within the famed ancient Chinese novel "Investiture of the Gods".

Feng Lin is the vanguard under General Zhang Guifang of Grand Old Master Wen Zhong's personal militia. In appearance, Wen Zhong had a red beard, blue face, and rather protrusive buck teeth (Feng would resemble more of an ape than anything else).

Following his appearance at dawn before Phoenix City, Feng would end up dueling it out against Ji Shuqian. After a short time, Feng would kill Ji Shuqian upon the unleashing of his magic ability and his duel clubs. Following the arrival of General Zhang Guifang's full militia, Feng would battle against Nangong Kuo, and would win solely through his magic technique once again.

However, following Nezha's arrival, Feng would end up losing an arm and almost his life. Following his defeat, Feng would later be healed by Wang Magus, one of four superiormen of Nine Dragon Island. At a later point following Li Resounding's final solo stand against Jiang Ziya, Feng would rise in atop his horse to assist. In a short time, Heavenly Happiness, the seven-year old son of Huang Feihu, would suddenly charge forth and cut Feng Lin through with his silver spear.

Feng Lin was appointed as the deity of Diaoke Star (吊客星) in the end. ["Fengshen Yanyi" Chapter 99.]
