John Cornwell
John Cornwell (* 1940 in London) ist ein englischer Journalist und Buchautor. Er ist Bruder von John le Carré.

Leben und Werk
Nach Abschluss seines Studiums an den Universitäten Oxford und Cambridge betraute die Londoner Sonntagszeitung The Observer Cornwell mit der Leitung ihrer Auslandsredaktion.
Er ist Autor mehrerer Bücher, darunter eine Biographie des englischen Romantikers Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Im deutschen Sprachraum wurde er durch sein 1989 erschienenes Buch Wie ein Dieb in der Nacht bekannt, in dem er sich gegen Verschwörungstheorien über den Tod von Papst Johannes Paul I. wandte. Ferner erregte seine Arbeit über Papst Pius XII. die Aufmerksamkeit, in der er wie im englisch-sprachigen Titel auch deutlich wird, Pius XII. als „Hitlers Papst“ bezeichnete.[1]
Cornwell verfasste auch mehrere Entgegnungen aus christlicher Sicht auf Richard Dawkins.[2][3]
