Martin Hose

Martin Hose (* 8. April 1961 in Wathlingen) ist ein deutscher Klassischer Philologe.

Sein Studium der Klassischen Philologie, Geschichte und Erziehungswissenschaften an den Universitäten zu Hamburg und Konstanz (1981–1987) schloss er 1988 mit dem Staatsexamen und Magister in Konstanz ab. Anschließend lehrte er bis 1989 am University College London, anschließend an der Universität Konstanz, wo er 1990 promoviert und 1993 habilitiert wurde. 1994/95 lehrte er teilweise an der Universität Heidelberg, 1994 wechselte er an die Universität Greifswald. Seit 1997 hat er den Lehrstuhl für Gräzistik an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München inne. Einen Ruf an die Universität Heidelberg (2004) lehnte er ab.

1995–2001 war er Vorstandsmitglied der Mommsen-Gesellschaft, 1999–2001 Dekan der Fakultät für Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaften an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Seit 2001 ist er ordentliches Mitglied der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. 2002–2007 war er Senator der LMU, seit 2004 ist er Vorstandsmitglied der Fédération Internationale des Associations d’Études Classiques. Seit 2000 ist er auch Mitherausgeber und Schriftleiter des Rezensionsorgans Gnomon.

Hoses Forschungsschwerpunkte sind griechisches Drama, Geschichtsschreibung, hellenistische Dichtung und die griechische Literatur der Kaiserzeit.
