KlingStubbins

KlingStubbins is an architectural, engineering, interior, and planning firm based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Kling's firm was founded in 1946 by Vincent Kling, FAIA, and had grown to become the largest architecture firm in Philadelphia, and one of the largest in the world. The Stubbins Group was founded by Hugh A. Stubbins, FAIA, in 1949. In January 2007 Kling and Stubbins merged to form "KlingStubbins." Kling's expertise was in research labs and commercial space, but it had designed projects in a large variety of building types and uses. Stubbins had designed several notable and historic buildings, and worked with noted Philadelphia city planner Edmund Bacon.__TOC__

Firm history

Originally established solely as an architecture firm, the company has grown over the years to include engineering, interior design, landscape architecture, and several branch offices in other cities. In 1969, the firm brought engineers into its office, and by 1986 had become a full-service A/E firm, then called The Kling-Lindquist Partnership, Inc. 1996 saw the opening of the firm's first satellite office in Washington, D.C., with later offices added in Raleigh, North Carolina and San Francisco. Kling became affiliated with the Boston based architecture firm Stubbins Associates in 2003. The two officially merged on January 1, 2007 [ [http://www.klingstubbins.com/about/pdfs_news/Design_Giants_Merge.pdf Design Giants Merge] - press release]

One of the most recognizable buildings designed by Kling is the Bell Atlantic Tower completed in 1991, which is among the tallest buildings in Philadelphia. The firm has won numerous awards at the regional level in recent years.
