William Henry Schofield

Henry Schofield was born in south Boston, Massachusetts in 1878. He was never married nor had any children thereby his only legacy became his work. He died from a heart attack in 1940. He lived a lonely life dedicated to his work as a professor at Harvard University.

He was professor of comparative literature at Harvard from 1909 to 1925 and during this time he published several works where the most famous are volume II in "Harvard Studies in Comparative Literature", "Chivalry in English Literature" published 1914 about Chaucer, Malory, Spenser and Shakespeare, and volume V in the same series "Mythical Bards and The Life of William Wallace" published 1920 about Blind Harry, Major's evidence, Master Blair and William Wallace. Both published by the Harvard University Press.
