Thorsten Quandt
Thorsten Quandt (* 1971) ist seit 2009 Professor für Kommunikationswissenschaft am Institut für Sozialwissenschaften der Universität Hohenheim. Der Schwerpunkt seiner Forschungs- und Lehrtätigkeit liegt in den Bereichen Medieninnovationsforschung, Online-Kommunikation, Social Media und Computerspiele. In der Dezember-Ausgabe 2009 der Zeitschrift Capital wurde er in die Top 40 der deutschen „Spitzenforscher unter 40“ gewählt.[1][2]

Forschung
Thorsten Quandt zählt zu den führenden Computerspiel-Forschern in Deutschland. Das European Research Council (ERC) der EU fördert im Rahmen des Exzellenz-Programms „Starting Independent Researcher Grants“ sein Forschungsprojekt „The social fabric of virtual life: A longitudinal multi-method study on the social foundations of online gaming“ (SOFOGA) mit insgesamt 1,84 Millionen Euro.
