Epstein, Abraham

(1841-1918)
   Austrian rabbinic scholar of Russian origin. He travelled to western Europe in 1861, where he met some of the leading figures in Jewish scholarship. Eventually he sold his shares in the family business and devoted himself to research. In 1876 he settled in Vienna, where he wrote studies on a wide range of Jewish topics.
