Grace Monroe is the pseudonym of Linda Watson-Brown and Maria Thomson. Together they write Scottish crime fiction. Their series character is Brodie McLennan, a wise-cracking female lawyer based in Edinburgh.

Biography

Linda Watson-Brown

Linda Watson-Brown was born in Edinburgh, where she lived until she began her university education at the University of Strathclyde. She studied Politics and English, and also completed a Masters there. A lifelong interest in writing led to her working for 'Cut' magazine while an undergraduate, and a number of local and Scottish publications from that time. When she graduated, she lectured in Politics at the University of Edinburgh, as well as Stirling University and the Open University. She was also a non-clinical lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Edinburgh, the co-ordinator of the Gender Studies Network in Lothian, and a course writer in Economics for the Open University. She became a regular contributor to The Scotsman and a frequent commentator on the politics of fertility, and gender issues, from 1999, leading to her being offered a position as a thrice-weekly columnist and features writer at the paper from 2000. She worked freelance for a few years for the vast majority of British newspapers and many women's magazines. In 2005, she became a best-selling ghost writer ghost-written, producing a number of recognised titles, including: The Step Child and What Daddy Did by Donna Ford, Unbreakable by Lindsey Hunter (widow of snooker player Paul Hunter), Love Hurts by Jeff Randall, The Pet Whisperer by Sarah-Jane le Blanc, and Casper the Commuting Cat by Sue Finden. Linda is currently working on her own crime fiction as well as a number of other ghostwritten projects. Maria Thomson

Maria Thomson (born 1960, Edinburgh) was a solicitor for 15 years until she and her husband were struck off by the Law Society in 1995 following allegations of misuse of the Legal Aid system, which they denied.^[1]
