Urban Regeneration and Social Sustainability. Best Practice from European Cities

Urban regeneration is a key focus for public policy throughout Europe. This book examines social sustainability and analyses its meaning. The authors offer a comprehensive European perspective to identify best practices in sustainable urban regeneration in five major cities in Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. This authoritative overview of the scholarly literature makes the book essential reading for researchers and post-graduate students in sustainable development, real estate, geography, urban studies, and urban planning, as well as consultants and policy advisors in urban regeneration and the built environment.

Tim Dixon (born 19 February, 1984) is an English television presenter.

Career

Tim Dixon is a British television presenter/producer and Managing Director of Inside Media Group.

Tim made his television debut on The Disney Channel (UK)'s "Sword and Sorcery Weekend" in early 1999.

Soon after he was selected to star in a 4-minute pop video, performing magic, for Badder Badder Schwing by Freddy Fresh and Fatboy Slim. The music video was released in 12 countries across the globe and went on to reach number 34 in the English charts, with further successes abroad, most notably in America. The video also featured on BBC1's The Ozone, ITV1's Clubber Vision, and proved highly popular on MTV and The Box.

Tim soon became a regular face on Studio Disney and made numerous appearances over the next three years. He also represented Disney at several corporate events including Pop 2000 at the Birmingham NEC and toured the country as part of Disney's Kids Awards Roadshows in 2000 and 2001 - appearing in shows in Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Reading, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Coventry, and Croydon.

Tim went on to front CITV in 2003, making his first appearance on 3rd January - as part of CITV's 20th Birthday celebrations. He also appeared as a guest on ITV's flagship Saturday morning show SM:TV Live.

After some time spent working in radio (Plymouth Sound FM, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio Devon), within a production capacity in the independent sector (Twofour Productions) and presenting on satellite channels, in 2006 Tim was invited to make his return to ITV as part of the presenting launch team for ITV Play, in Manchester.

Over the next 12 months he hosted a plethora of shows including This Morning Puzzle Book and Play DJ. He was also selected as the lead presenter of Friends Reunited: The School Run and The Common Room - a topical live, interactive debate show - covering subjects including everything from celebrity gossip, fashion, music, money, relationships, politics and travel. Each show had a different controversial theme and occasional celebrity phone-guests. Viewers were encouraged to phone, text and to send their picture and video messages for the chance to win exclusive prizes. The show was broadcast every weekday evening and soon developed a loyal cult following.

In 2007 Tim became a celebrity interviewer and red-carpet roving reporter for "Box Office Boys", BFBS. Recent work has included coverage of The Bourne Ultimatum, Transformers, Sleuth, Run Fatboy Run and St Trinians premiers – interviewing Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, Jude Law, Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, David Schwimmer, Simon Pegg and Russell Brand.

In Summer 2008 Tim landed his biggest break to date - replacing Stephen Mulhern as the new presenter of 30 episodes of childrens’ make-and-do show Finger Tips – which will TX from early September on ITV1, the CITV Channel and Super RTL in Germany. For more information visit www.fingertipstv.com

Whilst not presenting, he manages his own independent production company, Inside Media Group - www.insidemediagroup.co.uk Inside Media originally operated as a 'digital agency' specialising in rich-media and social-media marketing - producing websites and online marketing campaigns for numerous high-end blue chip corporate clients including BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Introducing and the BBC Asian Network. In early 2008 Inside Media launched a production wing and now focuses on corporate media production projects, for clients including telecommunications giant Amdocs.
