Plus tard, il en&233;crivit une suite`De l autre c&244;t&233; du miroir`. Au c&339;ur de ces deux&339;uvres, les expressions de la langue courante revues et interpr&233;t&233;es par une enfant. Cette interpr&233;tation met en&233;vidence les aspects parfois absurdes de notre fa&231;on de parler et illustre cette absurdit&233; par les situations tout aussi absurdes qui en r&233;sultent pour Alice dans son r&234;ve. Bien s&251;r l&339;uvre originelle est en anglais et s appuie sur des expressions anglaises courantes qui ne se retrouvent pas toutes en fran&231;ais. Qui de nous connait ce fromage du Cheshire qui a la forme d un chat qui sourit et qu on appelle Cheshire cat (chat du Cheshire) et pourtant ce personnage d Alice a une dimension mythique par lui-m&234;me. Il en est de m&234;me du chapelier fou (`fou comme un chapelier`) ou du li&232;vre de mars (`fou comme un li&232;vre de mars`en r&233;f&233;rence au temp&233;rament du li&232;vre pendant la saison des amours). Mais le g&233;nie de l&339;uvre est telle que le monde merveilleux d Alice continue de nous charmer&224; travers ses traductions m&234;me si le jeu de mot original nous reste inaccessible.
