Data in this paper are mainly taken from the Pagro variety of Mising, which is spoken in and around the Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts of Upper Assam; however, they appear to adequately typify the basic features of the word classes and the word-formation processes which is common to all attested varieties of Mising. I will discuss certain general features of Mising and some features of the word classes and word-formation processes of other languages only when they are crucial to an understanding of Mising classifiers.
