According to World Health Organization, hypertension is the leading cause of mortality worldwide, responsible for 13. 5% of all deceases in the world. If we consider the aetiology, in 85-90% of cases of hypertension no obvious cause is detected (essential hypertension) and only in 10-15% of patients we find an initial pathology, which complicates with hypertension (secondary hypertension). Although chronic renal disease and sleep apnea are the most common causes,adrenal pathology (pheochromocytoma, primary aldosteronism, Cushing s syndrome)is one of the special conditions (often under diagnosed) and can provide a challenge for the diagnosis and treatment of secondary hypertension.
