Forty pupils studying Ordinary Level English Language and six teachers from three Secondary Schools in Tafara-Mabvuku District of Harare Region were involved in this study. The researcher used the simple random sampling method. The questionnaire return rate for the pupils was 87. 5% (i. e 35 pupils) and the teachers return rate was 100%. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaire interviews and documentary review. Data was analysed and interpreted using descriptive statistics. The study reviewed that girls performed better than boys . Also revealed was that both boys and girls are highly motivated to study the subject and that English Language is the most preferred for the female respondents.
