The study is conducted in Chiro Town Western Hararge, Oromiya Reginal state. The existing sanitation facilities in the town are very poor and have adverse effect on resident s health. Lack of landfill and due to this disposal of solid and liquid waste in open space and dumping to the river, absence of sewer system, improper drainage system, lack of attention of the municipality to town sanitation issue, low perception of the population toward sanitation are the common sanitation problem in the town. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the causes of inadequate sanitation and its effect on human health and to assess the existing condition of sanitation infrastructure.
