Greenhouse gases such as methane, carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide and oxides of nitrogen emitted due to biomass burning were estimated using IPCC 1996 revised guidelines for emissions estimation. Carbon dioxide as well as water vapour emitted were also estimated by trapping these products through a closed chamber combustion in the presence of excess oxygen.
