Flexible balloon biogas plant having capacity 15 m3 based on kitchen waste with total digester volume of 25 cum was designed and developed. The digester was fabricated from special three layer reinforced fabric namely high tenacity rubberized nylon fabric coated with hypalon on the outer and neoprene on the inner surface of digester. The cylindrical shaped flexible balloon digester with 2. 5 m diameter and 5 m length was designed considering the pressure developed inside and other safety factors as a closed thin cylindrical pressure vessel. The plant was installed in the premises of Sainik School, Chittorgarh. The meal for 600 persons including students and staff was prepared daily in the school mess.
