Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) ist eine Organisation, welche die Rechnungslegungsstandards in den US-GAAP setzt. Das FASB ist eine privatrechtliche Organisation, die 1972 gegründet wurde und im Folgejahr ihre Tätigkeit aufnahm. Das FASB untersteht der SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission). Es hat seinen Sitz in Norwalk (Connecticut).
Das FASB besteht aus einem Board (Vorstand - sieben Mitglieder), Staff (Mitarbeiter - ca. 68 Mitarbeiter), Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF) und dem Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council.
Die durch das FASB erlassenen Rechnungslegungsstandards werden als Statements of Financial Accounting Standards (SFAS) bezeichnet.
