Luminous Vessels explores works of art that manifest a desire to penetrate the mystery of what it means to be a human being, body and spirit. Through printmaking, sculpture, video installation, relational aesthetics, and performance, this project investigates concepts that relate to questions surrounding my personal experience as a woman with both physical and soulful desires. Research includes scientific investigation and theological inquiry concerning the nature of luminosity as it relates to the corporeal and spiritual qualities of a human being. My artwork documents the process of self-discovery as I explore my body within and without, and aims further to invite others to reflect on the internal and external experience of their own corporeal and metaphysical reality to ponder more deeply their unique existence as physical and spiritual beings in the world.
