Tony Lee (born 30 June 1970) is a British writer. Born in Hillingdon, Middlesex, he now lives in Birmingham, West Midlands.

Biography

Following many years writing short pieces for magazines, radio and television, in 2003 Tony turned his attention towards comics. Since then, his stories have appeared under several publishers including Marvel Comics, Mongoose Publishing, Games Workshop and Panini Comics, and he has worked on such licenses as "X-Men", "Doctor Who", "Starship Troopers", "Spider-Man" and "Mark Hazzard - MERC". He is currently a freelance writer for a number of publishers, and on the 22nd January it was announced that he was the new Group Editor for Markosia. He has since stepped down. (See below)

An ongoing "Starship Troopers" series by Tony Lee for Markosia was announced in November 2006. The series began in April 2007. Tony quit the title after issue #4 however, claiming that one of his first jobs as Group Editor was to "fire myself after a better writer arrived."Fact|date=May 2008

"The Gloom" was cancelled when the publisher, APC folded - but there is still hope that one day another publisher will publish a collected trade. In the meantime, the series is being serialised every Friday at [http://www.chemsetcomics.com "The Chemistry Set."]

In summer 2009 his first Original Graphic Novel (OGN) for Walker Books is released - "", a 21st century retelling of the classic story. Art is by Sam Hart.

In addition he has another OGN out in mid/late 2009 with AiT/PlanetLar called "Dodge & Twist" - a loosely based 'sequel' to "Oliver Twist" that is quoted as being "Oceans Eleven meets Charles Dickens".

In November 2007 his mini series "Hope Falls" was released by Markosia to critical acclaim. A supernatural thriller, art duties were performed by long time collaborator Dan Boultwood. A five-part monthly title, "Hope Falls" ran until March 2008. A collected edition is expected in late 2008.

He has adapted several novels into comics including G.P. Taylor's "Shadowmancer", Wendy Alec's "Brothers - The Fall of Lucifer", Anthony Horowitz's "Power Of Five" series and G.P. Taylor's "Tizzle Sisters".

In September 2007 it was announced that Tony will be writing a six part "Warrior Nun Areala" series for Antarctic Press called "Excommunicated", for release in late 2008.

In October 2007 it was announced that he was stepping down as Group Editor of Markosia after ten months. It was also announced that Tony is writing for Rebellion, with a "Tales Of The Black Museum" one shot and a five part series called "" for "Judge Dredd Megazine", with art by Jack Lawrence.Fact|date=May 2008 In addition to this, Tony has announced that he is writing a long term series for "2000 AD" called "Stalag #666", out in August 2008.Fact|date=May 2008

In December 2007 it was announced that Tony would be writing a six part "Doctor Who" story for IDW Publishing called "". In January 2008 it was announced in Lying In The Gutters that Tony had written a one-shot adult comedy called "MILF Magnet" for Moonstone Publishing.Fact|date=May 2008

In June 2008 he had a ten page story in "Spider Man Family" #9, published by Marvel comics.

He has two stories upcoming in "The DFC" - "The Prince Of Baghdad" with Dan Boultwood and "St Spookys" with Rob Guillory.

Outside of comics themselves, up until January 2007 Tony wrote a monthly column called "Its Only a Comic" for Comics International. His last issue was January's #201, when it was decided that his new position could cause conflicts with his column.

From February 5th 2007, [http://www.comicsbulletin.com/guys "Two Drunk Guys In A Bar"] was published every two weeks on alternate Mondays, on Internet news site Comics Bulletin. This column also involved longtime collaborator Dan Boultwood. Tony is now well known for his work in the field of graphic novels. However he was also an established member of the English Neo-pagan movement in the nineties.Fact|date=May 2008 Tony has given talks on a whole host of areas of interest, including his thoughts on the path of the bard (distinct from modern Druidry).Fact|date=May 2008 Tony also played, from 1996 – 1999, with the pagan satirist Paul Mitchell in the duo “’The Astaroth, Astaroth, Astaroth, Hey That’s a Good Name for a Band’ Band”.

In an interview for Rich Johnston's Lying in the Gutters, Lee answered accusations of ballot stuffing that had seen himself and his long time collaborator Dan Boultwood stripped of their nominations in some categories of the 2008 awards.
