The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL* iBT) measures a person's ability to use English in an academic setting. The test has four major sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. Each section will present English materials as they are used in real life, so reading passages will resemble textbooks and listening passages will sound like actual conversations and lectures. The speaking and writing tasks will require you to use English to discuss both your opinions as well as purely academic material. Some parts will even require multiple skills, such as reading a passage and listening to a lecture, followed by a speaking task..
