В основу переработки легли следующие положения: сохранение занимательной фабулы; простой, правильный по конструкции и достаточно идиоматичный по характеру выражений и подбору слов язык; возможно большее ограничение словарного материала, однако, без ущерба для точной передачи смысла; постепенное нарастание трудностей с медленным переходомот более легкого к более трудному; расположение материала с таким расчетом, чтобы он приблизительно соответствовал принятой в большинстве учебников градации в преподнесении грамматических правил; максимальная повторяемость слов.
