The Forgotten Room

A long-lost experiment of unknown intent... A hidden room in a vast seaside estate... An investigator marked for danger... On a sprawling estate on the coast of Rhode Island, at the nation’s oldest and most prestigious think tank, an unfathomable tragedy takes place. No one knows what to make of the disturbing evidence left behind. Then reports begin to surface of increasingly bizarre behavior among the organization’s distinguished scientists. Called upon to investigate these strange happenings, history professor and analyst of inexplicable phenomena Jeremy Logan comes across an ingeniously concealed room in a long-dormant wing of the mansion. What he discovers within may provide answers - and, in the process, unleash a new wave of catastrophe.

Lincoln Child

Lincoln Child (born 1957) is an author of techno-thriller and horror novels. Often paired with writing partner Douglas Preston, many of their novels have become bestsellers and one, "Relic", was adapted into a feature film. Child and Preston's books are known for their thorough research.

Born in Westport, Connecticut, but now a New Jersey resident, Child graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, with a major in English.

Soon afterwards in 1979, he secured a job as an editorial assistant at St. Martin's Press. By 1984, Child would achieve the position as full editor. While in this position, Child edited hundreds of books, most titles being American and English fiction.

In 1987 after founding the company's mass-market horror division, Child left the St. Martin's Press to become a Systems Analyst at MetLife. While in this position, Child's first novel, "Relic", was published. He left the company a few years later to write full time.

Child is now a resident of Morristown, New Jersey. [Rohan, Virginia. [http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P1-22386886.html "THE MONSTER ON THE DOODLE PAD -- LINCOLN CHILD'S `THE RELIC' IS THE PRODUCT"] , "The Record (Bergen County)", January 28, 1997. Accessed December 5, 2007. "When Lincoln Child was just a lad, his mother handed him a big black notebook. First, he doodled in the front. Then, the Morristown novelist recalls, 'I turned to the back, and I drew something so frightening I could never look at it again.'"]
