The creations of Novgorod craftsmen were highly valued in themarkets of both the West and the East. The warriors of Novgorod inscribed many glorious pages in the history of Russian arms. Chroniclers and medieval writers deferentially called this northern city - "His Majesty Great Novgorod" .
