Jean Plaidy
Eleanor Alice Burford (* 1. September 1906 in London; † 18. Januar 1993), verheiratete Hibbert) war eine britische Schriftstellerin. Sie schrieb ungefähr 200 historische Romane, die meisten davon unter dem Pseudonym Jean Plaidy. Ihre verschiedenen Pseudonyme wählte sie aufgrund der thematischen Unterschiede in ihren Büchern; die bekanntesten sind neben Plaidy Victoria Holt und Philippa Carr. Viele Leser, die sie unter einem Namen kannten, vermuteten sie nie unter den anderen.
Eleanor Hibbert wurde 1989 mit dem Golden Treasure Award ausgezeichnet. Sie starb 1993 auf einer Mittelmeerkreuzfahrt auf hoher See zwischen Athen und Port Said, Ägypten.

(1972-1993) Als Philippa Carr schrieb sie die Daughters of England-Serie, die sich durch viele Generationen hinzieht. Das 19. und letzte Buch dieser Reihe heißt Wiedersehen in Cornwall und spielt zur Zeit des Zweiten Weltkrieges.
