The tale of "Red Comet" is (as every reader will have guessed) a story simply. Yet stranger things do happen in the Soviet Union every year. The places visited by Joy and Peter, and the things they saw there, are real. Many of them I have visited for myself and seen with my own eyes. Mikhail's "cultural information" is also all true. But you must remember that things change rapidly in the Soviet Union, and some of his figures may be out of date by the time you read this book.
