This illustrated book is on the work of Kaija and Heikki Siren, two architects who have done much to build up the international reputation of Finnish architecture since the beginning of the '50s. Work clone as a result of competition awards, and buildings and complexes designed by the Sirens for places abroad are given priority The latter include the La Pierrefitte area of linked houses in Paris, the buildings of the golf centres in Karuizawa and Onuma, Japan, and the Brucknerhaus Concert Hall in Linz, Austria. Parts of the text were written by the professor and architectural critic Jurgen Joedicke, and the architect Helmut Bor cherdt. They give a picture of the present state of architecture internationally and chart the Sirens place in it, and they also give their own impressions of the Sirens architecture. Both consider the most striking and attractive qualities to be its clarity, well thought out simplicity, and the way in which the Sirens "plant'' their architecture in the setting...
