The second volume in the series of catalogues of the Universal Art Gallery includes works belonging to the Spanish, german and austrian painting schools from the collections of the Art Museum of the Socialist Republic of Romania. As in the first volume, dedicated to the Italian painting, the catalogue presents not only the works permanently in exhibit but also some of those which represent the reserve of the Universal Art Gallery, selected on the basis of their artistic value but also in view of illustrating some particularities of style of the respective schools. Together with the works belonging to the italian, flemish, dutch and french schools, the Spanish, german and austrian paintings in the patrimony of the Art Museum, although not too numerous, include some creations of exceptional value. Thus the monumental canvas representing " The Adoration of the Shepherds ", as well as the other two compositions on sacred themes: " The Engagement of the Virgin " and " Saint...
