Cremōna, Luigi
Cremōna, Luigi, Luigi, Mathematiker, geb. 7. Dez. 1830 in Pavia, gest. 10. Juni 1903, studierte daselbst unter Brioschi, wurde 1860 Professor der höhern Geometrie in Bologna, 1866 am höhern technischen Institut zu Mailand. 1873 reorganisierte er die Ingenieurschule zu Rom und wurde 1879 Senator; 1898 war er kurze Zeit Unterrichtsminister. C. bildete die Culmannschen Methoden für schwierigere Probleme der Statik aus, so daß es möglich wurde, resultierende Kraft und resultierendes Drehungspaar bei einer beliebigen Zahl gegebener, ein starres Massensystem angreifender Kräfte durch Vorzeichnung der Kräfte und Seilpolygonen auf rein konstruktivem Wege zu erhalten. Von Neuerungen sind hervorzuheben die Cremonasche Transformation und der Cremonasche Kräfteplan. Sehr viel tat er auch für die Hebung der technischen Wissenschaften in Italien. Er schrieb: »Introduzione ad una teoria geometrica sulle curve piane« (Bologna 1862; deutsch von Curtze, Greifsw. 1865); »Preliminari di una teoria geometrica della superficie« (Mail. u. Bologna 1867, 2 Bde.; deutsch von Curtze, Berl. 1870); »Elementi di geometria proiettiva« (Turin 1873; deutsch von Trautvetter, Stuttg. 1882); »Elementi di calcolo grafico« (Turin 1874; deutsch von Curtze, Leipz. 1875); »Le figure reciproche nella statica grafica« (3. Aufl., Mail. 1879). Auch gab er die »Annali di matematica pura ed applicata« heraus und in Gemeinschaft mit Beltrami »Collectanea mathematica« (Mail. 1881).
