Goldoni, Carlo
Goldoni, Carlo, der bekannte Lustspieldichter, schrieb schon im 8. Jahre den Entwurf einer Theorie der Schauspielkunst und während seines Lebens gegen 200 Stücke, von denen viele in fremde Sprachen, auch in die unsrige übergingen. Goldoni war 1707 in Venedig geboren, reiste mehrere Jahre mit einer Schauspielergesellschaft und ward 1760 als Sprachlehrer der Prinzen und Prinzessinnen des königlichen Hauses nach Paris berufen, wo er 1793, nachdem er zu Anfange der Revolution seinen Jahrgehalt verloren hatte, in ziemlich ärmlichen Umständen starb. Auch seine Memoiren, von ihm selbst in französischer Sprache geschrieben, sind von Schatz übersetzt worden.
