Whosoever Shall Offend

1904. With frontispiece. F. Marion Crawford was one of the more famous authors in the English-speaking world at the time of his death in 1909. He wrote over forty novels, most of which were in the style of disposable romances popular at the time. He also wrote stories of the horror and occult, which are generally the ones for which he is remembered today. Whosoever Shall Offend begins: When the widow of Martino Consalvi married young Corbario, people shook their heads and said that she was making a great mistake. Consalvi had been dead a good many years, but as yet no one had thought it was time to say that his widow was no longer young and beautiful, as she had always been. Many rich widows remain young and beautiful as much as a quarterof a century, or even longer, and the Signora Consalvi was very rich indeed. Francis Marion Crawford

Siguió publicando novelas con éxito, al tiempo que trabajos históricos: Ave Roma Immortalis (1898), Rulers of the South (1900), renombrada Sicily, Calabria and Malta en 1904, y Gleanings from Venetian History (1905).
