The Effect of Noise in the Cochlea

Производитель: "LAP Lambert Academic Publishing"

Mathematical model describing the effects of noise in the cochlea is formulated. We showed that this model could correctly describe the deformation of the basilar membrane and the fluid motion. The plate equations are obtained from the three dimensional equations of the linearized director theory of the elastic plate. The resultant equations completely agree with those obtained previously for an elastic cosserat plate. It is important to note here, that we neglected the equations for the directors. We confined our attention to the steady state response of the system to noise in solving both the potential flow and equation of motion of the plate (basilar membrane). The solutions were computed and they showed the sinusoidal spiking waveforms. This book, therefore, provides the missing link between abstract mathematics and its application to the human body especially the effect of noise which is often neglected. The analysis should help shed some light on this new and exciting area in... ISBN:9783845400907
