It consists of two projects: 1) Interactive Nightclub, a system that harvests harmonic information from the DJ s music and connects it to various controllers so people can improvise with their movements; and 2) Dance Jockey, a musical performance based on movement that uses a sensor suit to collect kinetic information from the wearer and map it to various sounds. As the role of the online user is broadening to encompass a culture of digital participation that is extending to our daily life through ubiquitous, intelligent technology, we need to start thinking about the shape this culture of participation will assume in public, playful arenas.
