It is understood that translation plays a critical role in human communications. In the process of transferring the sense from the source language(SL)to target language(TL),translator plays a pivotal role. One of the most important issues regarding translation is shift in translation. Teachers of translation can employ two methods in order to teach shifts as one of the procedures in translation:explicit and implicit teaching. The researcher intended to find out whether explicit and/or implicit instruction of shifts as a procedure of translation can be effective on translation ability or not. The result of this study contributes to those who are involved in the task of translation. It is suggested that knowledge of shift can help translators. The knowledge of shift is among important factors that every translator must be familiar with in rendering texts. As far as the teaching of translation is concerned, language teachers,in general, and students,in particular, may find this study useful. ISBN:9783659399312
