Although the Microstrip antenna has some of shortcoming till this date such as low gain, narrow operating bandwidth, poor radiation efficiency, yet it has been one the most suitable candidate for modern wireless communication technology. Here I present a design of a single band Microstrip circular patch antenna. In addition, with the aid of an electromagnetic bandgap structure (EBG), circular array and superstrate, the antenna can be designed to operate in x band used for the spacecraft to ground communication link. The return loss, input impedance, VSWR and other parameters are calculated. The analysis and design of the antenna is carried out using the numerical package based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). Here I introduces the High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) as an effective tool for modeling electromagnetic structures....
