The use of timber in the construction industry in the world is very limited. It is often used for simple structures and structures carrying small loads. This may due to timber possess poor mechanical properties with a wide variation and the lack of knowledge and experience in timber engineering. This research was conducted to investigate the behavior of Pulai timber beams strengthened with CFRP plates and bars under four-point bending test. The bending behavior of the beams was studied based on their load-deflection characteristics. The experimental results were then compared with numerical analysis using finite element method (FEM).
