Burningham
John Burningham (* 27. April 1936 in Farnham, England) ist ein Kinderbuchautor und Illustrator.[1]
Burningham ging in die Schule von Summerhill. Zuerst arbeitete er als Filmezeichner, bevor er mit 20 die Central School of Art in London besuchte. Seinen Abschluss machte er 1959. John Burningham heiratete 1964 Helen Gillian Oxenbury. Heute lebt er mit seiner Frau und seinen Kindern in London.
Er begann seine Karriere 1963 mit seinem ersten Bilderbuch Borka. Für dieses erhielt er 1963 die Kate Greenaway Medal, die höchste Auszeichnung für ein britisches Bilderbuch. Er hat über sechzig Bücher verfasst und viele Preise gewonnen.
