Maria Dzielska est une historienne polonaise de l'Université jagellonne de Cracovie[1].
Hypatie d'Alexandrie
Son analyse explique la mort d'Hypatie comme le résultat de la lutte entre deux factions chrétiennes : celle du modéré Oreste (qui supportait Hypatie) et celle du plus rigide Cyrille d'Alexandrie. Le lexicographe William Smith avait déjà fait allusion à ceci (1867): « Elle avait été accusée de trop de familiarité avec Oreste, préfet d'Alexandrie, et l'accusation s'est répandue dans le clergé qui a décidé qu'elle avait interrompu l'amitié entre Orestes et leur archévèque, Cyril ».
