The present study examines the socio-economic problems that affect the women petty traders in Addis Ababa with specific reference to Gulit traders in Kotebe area of Yeka sub-city. The social and economic factors that led these women to Gulit trading in the study area, the roles and responsibilities and the ways to overcome the socio-economic problems of women Gulit traders were also examined. The study participants are 15 women petty traders from `Yeka Sub-city of Addis Ababa Administrative zone, specific to Kotebe. Within the age range of 30 -60 who are married and divorced mothers who have with a minimum number of two children and a maximum number of six children living with them.
