Производитель: "LAP Lambert Academic Publishing"

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are very harmful due to their bioaccumulative nature and toxic biological effects on wildlife and human. Increased concentrations of organochlorine compounds have been detected in a wide range of the environmental media and aquatic food net. Russia has some reliable monitoring data on the POPs levels and programs on emission control. Data on pesticide pollution in Russian Far East are very limited. This monograph overviewed the published and new experimental data concerning POPs in marine environment and biota in Russian zone of Pacific marginal seas: Bering Sea, Okhotsk Sea, and Japan/East Sea. Regional sources of HCH and DDT, generation, use and discharge, main features of POPs transport, current status and temporal trends of pesticides level in marine environment are discussed. Particular attention has given to POPs biotransport by Pacific salmon. This project was supported by Scientific Fund of Far Eastern Federal University, grant... ISBN:9783659490026
