Whenever anyone thinks of Egypt the first thing they almost automatically think of is the pyramids. They stand for an entire country and a great, ancient culture. They have been, and still are, copied. The entrance building to the Louvre in Paris is just one example. When the political climate permits, tourists flood to Giza to marvel at the formidable, mathematically tamed mountains of stone. Then they have to ask themselves how humans could have built them. The highest, the Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Cheops or Khufu, was 146 metres tall when it still had its tip. The Greeks counted the Great Pyramid of Giza amongst the Seven Wonders of the World, while Napoleon called out to his soldiers: Forty centuries look down upon you! By now it is forty-two.
