Listening to Chinese is a set of textbooks compiled for adult Chinese language students to improve their listening skills. Based on the first edition, it has replaced the outdated language data and added after-class exercises referring to the outline of the new HSK. This series is divided into three levels, elementary, intermediate and advanced, for students having learned 600-5000 Chinese words to choose the right levels according to their Chinese proficiency. This is Book 1 of the elementary level. It has altogether 16 lessons in four units. Each unit is composed of four lessons and followed by a unit test. Besides the lessons teaching pronunciation, each lesson includes the "intensive listening part" (including words, texts and warm-up exercises for the new HSK) and the "extensive listening part" (can be used as the selective or supportive teaching materials). Yan Wang
Wang Yan (* 3. Mai 1971 in der Provinz Liaoning) ist eine ehemalige chinesische Geherin.
Wang stellte 1986 zwei Weltrekorde im Bahngehen auf: Über 5000 Meter benötigte sie 21:33,8 min und über 3000 Meter 12:39,1 min. Mit 14 Jahren und 310 Tagen war sie die jüngste Leichtathletik-Weltrekordlerin aller Zeiten.
Im 10 km Straßengehen gewann sie 1996 bei den Olympischen Spielen Bronze in 42:19 min hinter der Russin Jelena Nikolajewa in 41:49 min und der Italienerin Elisabetta Perrone in 42:12 min.
Bei der Leichtathletik-Weltmeisterschaft 1999 wurde erstmals die Distanz von 20 km ausgetragen. Wang lag im Ziel mit 1:30:52 Std zwei Sekunden hinter ihrer Landsfrau Liu Hongyu und gewann Silber.
Bei einer Körpergröße von 1,68 m betrug ihr Wettkampfgewicht 50 kg.
