William Belsham
William Belsham (1752-1827) était un écrivain anglais politiques et historien, a noté comme un partisan du parti Whig et ses principes. En 1789, il a inventé le terme de libertaire dans une discussion de la volonté libre et en opposition à "nécessitariste" (ou déterministe) vues. Il a justifié la Révolution américaine en excusant les Américains dans leur résistance aux exigences de l'Angleterre, et il était un défenseur de la liberté politique progressiste. Il a commencé sa carrière d'auteur par «Essais, philosophique, historique et littéraire, la publication de deux volumes. 1789-1791. En 1792, il publie 'examen d'un recours de l'Ancien au Nouveau les whigs, et en 1793 «Remarques sur la nature et la nécessité de la réforme politique». Il a également écrit sur les lois de test, la Révolution française, le traité d'Amiens, et les lois sur les pauvres. En 1793, il a publié, en deux volumes, «Mémoires des rois de la Grande-Bretagne de la Maison de Brunswick-Lunebourg, et cela a été suivi en 1795 par« Mémoires du règne de George III à la session du Parlement 1793, dans quatre volumes, un volume cinquième et sixième apparition en 1801, le ramenant à 1799. En 1798, il a publié, en deux volumes, «Une histoire de la Grande-Bretagne de la Révolution à l'adhésion de la maison de Hanovre, et en 1806 tous les volumes ont été réédités l', avec deux volumes supplémentaires, les douze volumes figurant sous le titre, «Histoire de la Grande-Bretagne à la conclusion de la paix d'Amiens en 1802." Un volume huit figurant intitulé «Mémoires du règne de George III de son adhésion, à la paix d'Amiens a été publié en 1813.
